36. S. Staffs. Airborne Officer

Equipped for Operation Market Garden in September 1944, this Officer of the 2nd Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment would have landed in a glider before taking part in the Battle of Arnhem.

The 2nd South Staffs. went on to win two Victoria Crosses in this battle.

The 2nd Lieutenant pictured wears the famous Denison smock and the red beret of the Airborne divisions, most famously the Parachute Regiment. He carries the Mk.5 Sten gun.
