This caporal of Voltigeurs is wearing campaign kit, 1812 Bardin regulations. This means the habit (jacket) has shorter tails and a simpler front.
His plumet is in a leather pouch strapped to his sabre briquet and under his covered cartridge box (giberne) is strapped a pokalem, the 1812 regulations forage cap-cum-balaclava.
The yellow tape on the shako is also an 1812 addition for flank companies (i.e. Grenadiers and Voltigeurs).
